The Government of Alberta offers two types of funding for kindergarten and school age children attending licensed childcare programs: subsidy and the affordability grant. Both types of funding are paid to the childcare program directly, so the amount that is deducted from the family’s monthly Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) charge is reduced.
Through an agreement with the federal government, Alberta has undertaken an initiative to reduce the cost of childcare for kindergarten age children to $10 per day by 2026.
If you intend to apply for subsidy or already have subsidy in place, we need the Subsidy Agreement completed and submitted to our office at accounts@adventurers-sac.com. A copy of the subsidy approval letter must be sent as well so we know how to adjust your fees.
A child’s subsidy rate is determined by total family income, type of child care program, and the number of hours the child attends in a month. If your annual household income is $90,000 or less ($180,000 if your child is in kindergarten), you can apply by visiting https://www.alberta.ca/child-care-subsidy or by calling 1-877-644-9992. Note: online applications are processed faster than paper ones.
If your child is in kindergarten, please be sure that you select the box to indicate that your child attends care during school hours. If this is not selected, the affordability grant will not be included with the payment we receive.
As your application is being processed, providing you have met the conditions for subsidy, you should initially receive a conditional 2-month approval.
