At Adventurers Capitol Hill we support our families by offering a before and after school program for children in grades 1 through six. For kindergarteners, we offer care at our Triwood location and provide transportation to and from Capitol Hill school. It is a place where children can hang with friends, explore new ideas and activities, and learn in a positive, play based learning environment. The Adventurers program offers a Kindergarten Enhancement program for children registered in the school. Like our before and after school care, our enhancement program gives students the opportunity to explore through daily arts and crafts, science activities and outdoor play – but with a more academic focus. We believe that children learn best through play, however our planned activities are also designed to complement the curriculum our students will be learning throughout the school year. To that end our days also incorporate sensory play, circle times, show-and-share, calendar, weather and more. Our Kindergarten Enhancement Director works in partnership with the program director and the site educators to ensure the curriculum we develop supports learning in a fun play based way. The before and after school care offers a variety of activities and centers which include crafts, outdoor play, blocks, science experiments and much more. This environment allows the children to explore and learn in groups as well as individuals.
Adventurers at Capitol Hill care about involving their community. They encourage parents to come in and share their cultural backgrounds or provide some information around what they do in their careers. The parents always support community projects that we do. As a leader of Adopt-A-Family and many community partnerships, children truly feel a part of this community.
Adventurers’ is a fun, safe, trusting, and wonderful experience for children. Stop in and see us making goop and painting outside, or in the gym playing a wide variety of games, or hosting a craft sale for any community cause. Or maybe you will catch a glimpse of us hanging out, reading, or just playing!
