Capitol Hill School, 2210-18 Street NW, (403) 991-6842 [directions]

Capitol hill school room 1Capitol Hill Adventurers program-is truly "Where being a kid is once in a life time Adventure". Adventurers have been part of this inner city community for 23 years. This is where it all started for us! We continue to provide care for families attending this wonderful inner city school, which focuses on learning through the Arts. Capitol Hill offers the wonderful opportunity for parents working down town to spend some quality time with their children during the drive to and from home and work. At Adventurers Capitol Hill we support our families by offering a before and after school program for children in grades 1 through six. For kindergarteners, we offer care at our Triwood location and provide transportation to and from Capitol Hill school. It is a place where children can hang with friends, explore new ideas and activities, and learn in a positive, play based learning environment. The Adventurers program offers a Kindergarten Enhancement program for children registered in the school. Like our before and after school care, our enhancement program gives students the opportunity to explore through daily arts and crafts, science activities and outdoor play – but with a more academic focus. We believe that children learn best through play, however our planned activities are also designed to complement the curriculum our students will be learning throughout the school year. To that end our days also incorporate sensory play, circle times, show-and-share, calendar, weather and more. Our Kindergarten Enhancement Director works in partnership with the program director and the site educators to ensure the curriculum we develop supports learning in a fun play based way. The before and after school care offers a variety of activities and centers which include crafts, outdoor play, blocks, science experiments and much more. This environment allows the children to explore and learn in groups as well as individuals.

capitol hill school room 2Adventurers at Capitol Hill care about involving their community. They encourage parents to come in and share their cultural backgrounds or provide some information around what they do in their careers. The parents always support community projects that we do. As a leader of Adopt-A-Family and many community partnerships, children truly feel a part of this community.

Adventurers’ is a fun, safe, trusting, and wonderful experience for children. Stop in and see us making goop and painting outside, or in the gym playing a wide variety of games, or hosting a craft sale for any community cause. Or maybe you will catch a glimpse of us hanging out, reading, or just playing!

It’s a place where children and educators laugh, smile, learn, and grow together!

We are where "a Once and a lifetime Adventure" first started!

  • Capitol Hill Elementary (kindergarten only)

triwood community centre 1Welcome to Adventurers-Triwood Community Location! We are truly "Where being a kid is a once in a lifetime Adventure"! Adventurers Triwood is located in the heart of inner city, Charleswood and of course the Triwood communities. Our Triwood program exclusively serves kindergarten children from both Collingwood and Capitol Hill schools. We provide before and after care, as well as kindergarten enhancement during the day. We have an amazing partnership with the Triwood Community Association, who not only supports Adventurers, but also truly believes children, families, and the seniors of the community are the heart of the community. We are proud of our community partnerships with the association, the seniors, local business and the schools. Adventurers’ at the Triwood location provides service to a number of schools. This supports us in building and fostering an environment where we can explore the beauty between diverse cultures, community needs, and global awareness. Many of our special programs such as "Bully Buster" "Pennies for Peace" "SOPAR" "Leadership" " National Child’s Day Celebrations" "Think outside the Box" and Global awareness fundraising have been initiatives and piloted out of Adventurers at Triwood.

Adventurers’ have been an active part of the Triwood community for the past 15 years but we have also been a part of the local and provincial childcare community. Our involvement with the wider childcare community has helped to create public awareness of the role of quality; licensed school age care programs play in the development of children. Our parents have played a significant role in creating awareness around quality school age care, accreditation for school age care and provincial subsidy for school age children.

We truly believe that every child has the right to quality child care in the community of choice. Our educators here at Triwood are warm and welcoming and we encourage our parents to stick around and play, join your child for a craft, or join in some outdoor activities before your journey home with your family. So, drop your child off on your way to work, pick them up on the way home, or stay and join us for an Adventure because we are truly "Where being a kid is a once in a lifetime Adventure"

Collingwood Elementary 3826 Collingwood Drive NW, Calgary, AB, (403) 690-9695 [directions], school website

Collingwood CenterHello, and welcome to Adventurers at Collingwood School! We provide a before and after school program, located in the school gym. Collingwood school is a Spanish bilingual school, offering us a unique opportunity to learn in an environment full of art, science, crafts and games. We strive to provide an experience that gives the children the chance to grow with the skills they learn at school, bringing them into our centre, and expanding on in our own Adventurers way. Our centre is in the school gym, giving us the opportunity to create a large area to play games, as well as lay out a place for arts and crafts, as well as science activities. This allows us to setup our centre exactly the way we want everyday, providing us with a space we have made our own.

Collingwood parkWe are excited to be in this new location, giving us the opportunity to play in a wonderful playground, being close to Canmore Tree Park, and on a more adventurous day, being within walking distance to Confederation Park. All these things give us more opportunities to explore our natural world.

We strive to give the children who come to our centre the opportunity to shine in their unique way, expressing themselves through leadership roles, in the activities, and they we interact everyday. We start everyday the same, looking for adventure in any shape it may come. Welcome to Adventurers at Collingwood School!
